József Ungár

Gábor Benő Pogány: József Ungár

(2016, St. Elizabeth's Park)

„The broken column is a frequently used motif for commemorating those who died young. József Ungár died by execution, instead of broken column, I used the totally cut column. As we commemorate the martyr who was executed at a young age, the cut column is continued by the inlaid hands, which symbolize the commemorators. During the commemoration of the martyrs of '56, candles of remembrance can be placed here, between the hands.” – Gábor Benő Pogány
