He was born in Dunaújváros in 1974. He began his fine arts studies at the Art Vocational High School in Pécs, in 1988 and then in 2003 at the Moholy-Nagy University of Arts, majoring in video. In 2002, he won the Award of the Foundation for the Art of Dunaújváros.
Péter Páhi is a free-spirited, experimental, polyhistoric artist. It moves at home in the areas of motion picture, object, painting / graphics, performance, comics / story-board (flowchart for comic and film scene design), mosaic, land art, and media in general. His works - which are characterized by a high level of material knowledge, demanding workmanship and astringent irony - are works of art that perform a practical function in addition to artistic values. The sculptures are made from waste, parts of discarded devices, for which the artist occasionally makes additional parts. Each work is descriptive in nature, making it easy to recognize model animals or other creatures. The figures depicted ironically serve activities such as functional machines, actions that reflect the given figure, and Páhi’s works are humorous to them. Machines are striking object combinations, evoking Dadaist and Surrealist objects, object combinations, and collages. The DIY character is offset by the demanding workmanship, as well as the consistently thought-out and implemented concept, the side-by-side technique that provokes image associations.
